Meet Kelly!

I was born and raised here in Sunnyvale. Growing up we had a lot of pets (cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, fish, guinea pig, rabbits), so it only makes sense that I turned out to be a huge animal lover. When I was 19 or 20 I moved over the hill to Santa Cruz and spent a few years as a dirty hippie working to save the world. I worked in a campaign office helping groups like The Sierra Club, CalPIRG, Defenders of Wildlife, and others. This work really deepened my interest in preserving the environment and all things eco-friendly. When my mom decided to open For Other Living Things, I thought “combine pets with eco-friendly? Awesome!” It made perfect sense for me to move back over the hill and start working here. The last 12+ years have been incredible, full of ups and downs (hello 2 broken feet...), but through it all I have had the store and our customers to look forward to. I currently share my life with Kevin, my 14 year old Rottweiler mix Luna, and our stinker of a bunny Frankie. I have learned tremendous amounts over the years about how to care for Luna (can you believe when I first got her I fed her Pedigree from Safeway!) and I’m thankful every day that my experience here has helped me keep her happy and healthy all this time.
